Those are Windows files. Your flash drive has been purchased intended for Win OS, or someone has formatted it with a Win computer. Not a problem, simply reformat it with Mac Disk Utility as FAT 32 for dual Mac and Win use; or HFS if it's intended for Mac only.

If you need further assistance, just post back.

Note with thumb drives you can drag items to the trash, but you have to then empty the trash whilst the drive is still connected otherwise they will not be removed.

What do you mean? "Reformat" generally means to erase a disk in order to change the filesystem. What are you trying to accomplish?

You can't, not unless you install Windows and either boot into it or use Parallels for virtualization.

As has already been answered above and in your other thread on the same topic, .exe will only open in Windows. No Windows, no open. The answer will not change.

Alternatively, you could go to the developers of those applications and ask them to create a version of their app for OS X and Linux.

Sorry for the double posting, it was not because I was ignoring the replies. Why did I post twice? It was an accident. There is another mac forum i post on and so I simply got confused with which one I was posting on again.

In any case, thank you all for the knowledge being transfered to me. Thanks.

you can use Darwine to open .exe files on your Mac, similar to Wine on Linux, it's a sort of an "emulation"

Darwine - News

but it's not a 100% working solution on any file ...

out of curiosity, what do you need with a .tmp file??

Files .tmp and .temp are temporary files created by either an application or Windows itself. Usually nothing to see inside that makes sense. Most are either binary or a mix of binary and text. Usually they can be deleted.

Regards.

If it's a brand new thumb drive, it's probably some backup program. There should be no need for that program, even if you were using Windows.
