In the animation category, Wall-E won an Oscar and Steve Jobs was one of the people thanked. Anyone knows how Apple was involved in this film?

I believed he owned Pixar, which was purchased by Disney and this is why he is Disney's largest shareholder.

I was going to say that he could have helped with the animation.

Did they not make the film on apples?
I'm going to assume with the position that Jobs has within Disney and the, what I assume to be large control over the Pixar division (if such a thing exists), that Macs were used throughout.

Also, when WALL-E recharged himself, he sounded the chime you hear when you turn your Mac on. Maybe they were really grateful for having permission to do that? :p

Soon to own
In 1986, Steve Jobs bought Industrial Light & Sound from Lucasfilm. He then, along with it's animators founded Pixar. They used Jobs other project, NeXTSTEP, which was handed to Apple and turned into OS X.

In short, Steve Jobs saved animation and The Disney corperation and everyone is grateful for it.

thus he is on the board @ Disney. That was part of the "purchase agreement" for pixar, Jobs wanted shares of Disney.

Smart man.

I expect they also used animation software on Macs.
