personally I'd get a MacBook, it is more powerful and you can take it anywhere with you, but it is more expensive ...

the mini is a nice little computer and I think you will be able to do everything you mentioned absolutely fine, but definitely go with 2Gigs of ram, if you could take the 2Gig CPU then perfect
