• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

HMMM but i can't seem to get it to superimpose itself on the video, only can get it to go before or after and not right on top of it [if this makes any sense] thanks.

Uncheck the box for Over Black

Go to the view where it shows each of the clips instead of the timeline view

Drag the subtitle (see pdf for the thing im talking about) onto the clip you want it on

THANK YOU, i got it now!

It's funny, I'm having the same problem in iMovie, but even after I uncheck the "over black" box, it automatically blacks it back in whenever I try to drag the subtitle to the clip over which I want the text superimposed, and creates a new clip with just the subtitle. The "update" button is grayed out as well. The .pdf help file doesn't give me any information - anyone have any ideas?

Thanks! :)

Having had that problem in the past. Just be sure that the over black box is un-checked before you do the drag and drop.

And if you want to drop it in the middle of a clip, Split your clip in the time line using CMD-T and drop the title between the two.

Yup, the over-black box is unchecked *before* I drag and drop, and it still doesn't want to attach itself to the clip. It insists on going either before or after it, and automatically becomes an over-black, even though I've unchecked it a million times. Maybe there is something I need to adjust in the preferences?

Ugh. I worked with Adobe Premiere for over five years (on some complex stuff) with no trouble, and this basic, simplistic little iMovie is really grating my cheese.
