Need to convert to MPEG-1

Can any one recommend a program to convert MPG-4, WMV, and other formats into MPEG-1 format?

I purchased QuickTime Pro and FlipForMac, but it doesn't seem to have the capability to save off as a MPEG-1 format.

Thank you for any suggestions and please forgive me if I overlooked the answer in this forum.
