quicktime no picture

i have a bunch of quicktime movies that won't play the video. audio works, but no picture. i did a search on here and installed parian. tried again and a clip worked. i thought that would do it so i walked away for a while. came back and for some reason i'm back to square one with nothing working!!??

'get info' tells me the codecs are: sorenson video 3, aac, mpeg-4 sdsm, mpeg-4 odsm, and bmp.
