burning a movie...

everytime i go to put a movie in my player.. it reads it. and automatically plays i have no clue how to burn it. i want it *for now* just on my computer and not on a second disk.. since i want to make AMV's through imovie. please help

it's a white 13 inch macbook that i'm using

Do you want to make a copy of the dvd you put in?
You can copy the disk with your Disc Utility then burn the contents of that disk onto a DVD-R or whatever you may have.

what's disc utility?? is that an application?? and will that save it to the actual comp or to i have to automatically put it on a readible disc??

You need something like "Mac the Ripper" to extract the contents from the DVD and copy it to your hard drive. Download from here. It's free.

There is also Handbrake which allows you to covert the dvd into many convenient different formats. You need to have vlc installed as well to rip dvd's though.
