Hello folks

Santa has just brought me an Imac for christmas and im needing help already please.

I run a fantasy football site for work.
the site has been running for the last 5 years and i have been using internet explorer as my browser on a PC.

the problem i have now is when i copy and paste the points from the suns site using firefox or safari it like adds a tabs in between each player.

this is what it used to look like.

001 Lehmann Arsenal £4.0m 153
002 Taylor Arsenal £3.5m 0
003 Enckelman Aston Villa £2.5m 6
004 Postma Aston Villa £1.5m -1
042 Sorensen Aston Villa £1.5m 99
005 Bennett Birmingham £2.5m 2

this is what it look like now.

002 M Almunia Arsenal £5.0m 77
005 L Fabianski Arsenal £2.5m 17
009 S Taylor Aston Villa £2.5m 0
013 B Friedel Blackburn £4.0m 60
017 A Al Habsi Bolton £1.5m 0
020 J Jaaskelainen Bolton £3.0m 39

so with the code that runs the update script it failing because of the spaces i dont want to redo the update script because i need to update from a pc and a mac.

any ideas what im doing wrong or what the difference is between copy on IE or firefox

many thanks jason

I do not know what the issue is, but if you read carefully he did say he tried Firefox and Safari.

One thing I do know though is that if the site is designed with IE in mind, you might have issues with other browsers.

Try highlighting the text you want to copy. Then, click on the highlighted area one time, hold the button and drag it to your desktop. This should create a text file with all of the data copied verbatim. Then, copy the data from the text file and paste it - tell us what happens then.

this is what it used to look like.

001 Lehmann Arsenal £4.0m 153
002 Taylor Arsenal £3.5m 0
003 Enckelman Aston Villa £2.5m 6
004 Postma Aston Villa £1.5m -1

005 Bennett Birmingham £2.5m 2

this is what it look like now.

002 M Almunia Arsenal £5.0m 77

009 S Taylor Aston Villa £2.5m 0
013 B Friedel Blackburn £4.0m 60

im still getting the problem where i have too many spaces or tabs in between each player.

ive tried to do what cwa107 said and i cant appear to drag to the desk top.this is where im getting the points from.

Dream Team 2008-09 - The Sun Fantasy Football Premier League Game - Home then click on the goalkeepers etc.

any other ideas?

i cant really show whats happening because when i do a post it wont show the exact spaces thats causing me the issue............ !!!!!!
