I used to run XP on my Mac using Parallels. I only use it to access
my Tact 2.2XP preamp / room correction system.

It worked OK, but after I installed a new version of the Tact soft-
ware it stopped because of problems with .Net software that was
needed to run the Tact software.

Now I made a new partition and installed XP. I now runs directly on
the Intel processor. No problems with .Net here.

I installed my Keyspan serial adaptor and that is being recognised.
I have downloaded and installed thee software for it.

But the Tact software can't find a COM-port. In Parallels it always
did, but not here.

I looked at 'Apparaten' (that is Dutch for - I think - Hardware
(clicking on 'My computer', 'Properties')) and then 'Network'. There
is some bluetooth stuff but no COM-port in sight...

Do you have any idea what I should do to get a COM-port?

Thanks in advance - Henk

That's because your Mac doesn't have a real Com port. When running in a VM (Parallels or Fusion) the Com ports are virtualized by the installation of the guest tools.

You need to go back to running XP in Parallels if you wish to use your new Tact version.

Regards.
