I have set up an ad hoc connection to my HP wireless printer
I have to select this every time I fire up the computer
Is there any way to make this connect automatically on boot up

cheers

I think you can do it in system preferences/printers and fax

Mine is shared over a wireless network via a Windows pc.

In print and fax you have to click the + icon in the lower left and then you get optins to install printers, one of them being IP

If you don't have it set as your default printer - you might wish to try that. Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Print & Fax and be sure it's set as the default printer.
