Sony DCD-DVD708 and imovie 08

I have a sony dcr-dvd708 and trying to use it with imovie 08. When I plug the video camera in using usb which is the only option imovie does not recognise it. How do I use this video camera with Imovie.

Dunno... I have the DCR-SR45 and it works seamlessly with iMovie 08
