Closing MBP without it hibernating

I just got a flat screen monitor and keyboard and wanted to use it with my MBP. The only thing I want to do it be able to close the lid without it going into hibernation. Is there any way I can do that? Is it a setting I can change or do I need some sort of application? Thanks!
