Splitting Long/Hidden Tracks - Help

Hi All

I have loads of music files taken from CDs in itunes that last over 30mins. They have two areas of music (main track and hidden track) with a period of silence between. They are really frustrating as when playing music there could be >20mins of silence and then a burst of music.

Are there any tricks or programmes for splitting the first and second song (deleting the quiet bit). (i.e Produce two shorter tracks from the longer file).

I hope that makes sense. I guess other people will have similar in their itunes library.
