i come from the xp/linux world...

how do i manually eject a cd on the mac mini?

the cd icon doesn't appear on the desktop (probably wrong iso format). the way i am doing it now is to restart + hold down mouse button as per the manual.

any other way of doing it w/o restarting?

can i go to console and unmount it via command line somehow?

Hrm.. It doesn't say anything else in the manual? Search Mac HD>User Guides andz Information>Mac mini manual for manual eject...

I'm sure there is another way to get it out..

and yes, there is a command to unmount things via terminal, only I have no idea what is it!

What keyboard are you using with your Mini? If it's an Apple Keyboard there is an Eject key on it. If not Logitech and Microsoft drivers have mapping for a key on the keyboard to do the eject.

ooh..I thought he meant as if he had a reg. apple keyboard, and he put in a disk which the computer did not recognize, and it therefore didnt mount...

With a non-Apple keyboard eject is F12 key.

To unmount filesystems from terminal use the umount command.

Use the df command to see the filesystems you have mounted.

For full details use man, i.e man umount.

btw, you have to be root user to unmount filesystems. How to enable root user must be on the forums somewhere so if someone could kindly link to the explanation it would be appreciated because I haven't got time to delve into that one just now! ;)

He mentioned the CD icon does not appear on the desktop.

If F12 doesn't work follow Amen-Moses's directions. That should do it for ya. :mac:
