AT&T modem disc messed my mac up

A friend (really) loaded an AT&T modem disc and now he has a pop-up that states he need to reconfigure his internet connect. It won't go away. Do he need to restore? He is running Tiger. (I know, Time Machine right?) I am trying to help him to get rid of that program without having to go to restore discs. Any thoughts?
