I'm looking to get an external to use for back-up and with Time Machine. Do I need 1TB or will 500 MB do? How much is a good price? Is there a website that would be cheaper than a BB? Thanks.

How big is your current hard drive?
Which Mac do you use?
Do you need the HD to be very portable or will it mostly be on a desk?

Answers to these questions would help me determine a good match for you.

P.S. 500MB won't store very much at all but 500GB may work better for you ;)

I suggest Apple's Time Capsule 1TB or 500GB,it was a breeze to set up and automatically backs up any changes hourly and is also a full-featured 802.11n Wi-Fi base station.I went with the 1TB so never no worries about extra space, a little pricey but you get what you pay for with Apple "top of the line"the 500GB is a good choice also.

Yeah that's the reason why I got my Time Capsule also. I needed to upgrade my router, and combining the router with another hard drive was exactly what I needed.
