Hello friends,

I have 2 problems, and 1 of which may be the cause of the other problem, i dont know?

I am running osx 10.2 (i know im stuck in the past, i havent had the luxury of upgrading yet.) any way i have some sort of virus, for some reason cannot be cleaned or deleted.

the problem i am having is that my computer goes to sleep like every 5 min and its really annoying. now i have an mp3 file that will let me trash it or delete it, i dont know if this is the root of my problem.

If anyone has any ideas or comments on what i can do, or what needs to be done it would greatly be appreciated.

my virus protection is norton anti virus ver 9.0 and i am also running virex 7.1

please help.

Does 10.2 have the disk utility and repair permissions? In any case Norton is not a good choice for virus protection. And there are no true Mac OS viruses as these depend on the windows registry to do their thing. I'm not sure if 10.2 can boot into single user for a file system check, if it can (restart Apple S) and in there type /sbin/fsck -fy

yup, no os x viruses, have you checked the energy saver settings to see if its not set to sleep every 5 minutes? repairing permissions and resetting the pram should do it.

Yeah ive checked my energy settings numerous times, i actually have it set to never. so thats not the problem. im new to the mac world and dont really know my around my machine to well yet.

how do you repair permissions and reset the pram?
i will check for disk repair and see what i can do.

if you or anyone else has any suggestions please let me know.

repair permissions. After every software update, and about every 2 weeks: close all apps and log totally off. Log on, go in Finder, Applications. Utilities, Disk Utility. After the message -getting disk information- select volume (below the hard drive name -upper left corner). Just highlight it. Now look to the lower two things are there near the middle, verify permissions, repair permissions.
