I partitioned my hard drive leaving 32 gigs for xp. I popped in my XP disc as instructed. It went through the process of asking me which file system ( i chose ntfs) and then supposedly installed XP. When it said restarting my computer it restarted and came up with the screen "press any key to boot from cd". Without hesitation I hit enter and it went to a black screen with little blinking curser in the upper left corner. It stayed that way for a while so i manually restarted the computer, i tried both booting to CD and to the Windows HD. The Windows HD produced a message that said " there has been an error press ctrl alt delete to restart, naturally it did nothing. Boot from CD produced the same message as before. I then booted in the Mac HD and un and then re partitioned the hard drive. I tried to do the same thing as before and now it wont load the XP CD at all and just goes directly to the blinking cursor. Sorry for the long post but i hope some one can help me out. thanks.

What kind of XP Pro disk are you using? In order to install XP you must use either a MS boxed version of XP SP2 full install or a system builders XP SP2 full install version. Nothing else is going to work properly. For example: You can not use an OEM branded disk or recovery version.

Post back and let us know.

Regards.

With SP1 the OSX 10.5 DVD will not install the drivers. Also if you try to install SP2 it will get an error. You need XP SP2.

You can make a SP2 CD out of your SP1 by Slipstreaming. Google it and you will find many sites with instructions.

Your XP SP! CD is a full legal copy I take it?

Interesting, I had the same issue with Bootcamp and ended up getting frustrated with the "no disk, hit any key". Finally I just installed it via Parallels. Vista 32 installed and worked fine via Bootcamp, but that particular OS wasn't my thing. I'm going to try the "slipstream" thing and see if she'll go. I want ed to run some of my old XP games on Bootcamp.
