Hi

I have an old 100GB Western Digital external HD and I was wondering if you can replace the HD inside to a bigger one and reuse the case

The board in the case changes the IDE interface to USB,make shure the jumper on the new drive is in the same place as the old drive, and then format the new drive.

Remember to be careful of drive speed and cooling. I replaced a 5400rpm WD IDE HDD in a fanless Acomdata Mini Pal enclosure with a 7200rpm Seagate HDD. It's now really loud and very hot. I'm not sure it trust it so much now. My Mac Mini stacks on top of it and the heat actually makes the Mini's fan run pretty much non stop when Time MAchine is doing one of those 30GB unneeded backups.
