I'm in china. My macbook doesn't recognize the ethernet. Do I need to get hardware? What kind? -or- Do I need to buy an ethernet port which converts their's to mine?

What may be the issue?

Thanks

How are you connecting your macbook to the internet? Wireless? Wired?

What does the Network pane in System Preferences show when you connect?

What do you mean the MB doesn't recognise the ethernet? Ethernet is a universal structure is it not? The MB already has a built in ethernet port.

I think he means the computer is not picking up the connection.

Go to system preferences > Network and make sure that the ethernet is plugged in.
