• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

you can use divx doctor 2 to convert avi to .mov, or use forty two dvdvx plus to convert wmv to .avi, then use the above app to convert to .mov.

Thanks for the info guys!

I downloaded both and for some reason "forty two dvdvx plus" opens the WMV file, but I can't do anything with it... view & start are both greyed out.

I've read what there is to the manual. Can anyone tell me what I'm supposed to do?

Is the demo disabled so you can't do anything? Even thier FAQ says nothing about if the demo is disabled or if it's a fully functioning demo.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Search "Video Converter for Mac"

yes, that's the actual name of the program. It has about 50 different combinations for file converts. The only problem is, the trial version only lets you convert videos that are under 5 minutes, or else it will split them up.

There are several ways to go...
Divx Doctor has been mentioned.
EasyWMV will convert .wmv to .mov
ffmpegx will do most anything, including .rm with the right codecs.
There's also Perian and flip4mac with Quicktime Pro.
Isquint, MpegStreamclip,Compression Master, and on and on...
Most if not all can be found at MacUpdate.com
