I use mac mail and gmail. Does anyone know how to avoid having every email I send from gmail going to my inbox on mac mail?

For some reason all sent mail is coming to my inbox not just received mail. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff

I use both Mac Mail and GMail and do not have that problem. The only thing I can think of is you're addressing yourself on outgoing mail or you're missing the "sent" folder in Mac Mail. Check to see if you have a folder in Mac Mail called "sent", it should be right below your inbox. If you don't have one, create it.

Regards.

Here's what you do:

  1. In the menu bar, click on Mail -> Preferences (or press Command + ,)
  2. Select "Rules" on the far right.
  3. Click the "Add Rule" button
  4. Create the following rule:

If any of the following conditions are met:

From is equal to [[email protected]]

    Perform the following actions:

    Move message to mailbox Sent

    Mark as read

Underlined text denotes fields that you can change in the rule category.

Do this, and you should be able to get all of your sent messages moved into the sent folder on Mail. I ended up doing this exact same thing, and it's worked flawlessly ever since.
