K...This makes no sense....
Bought a 1GB RAM stick for my 1.42 iBook.
It's only 1.5GB when it feels like it...Example: Taking it out of the bay, letting it sit for 5 mins, and putting it back in.
Does this sound like a defective RAM stick?

Yes. Sounds like it's not able to operate at high temps.
