Please help (bootcamp)

Is that what I need to buy to run windows xp on my mac (have a new macbook with bootcamp already) http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3405555 ?

And two more questions.

1. Will I ever need the windows xp disc after using it for bootcamp?

2. I tried using bootcamp with a windows xp upgrade disc instead and partitioned like 40 gb of memory for it. Obviously it didn't work because it was only the upgrade version. Now how do I get that lost memory back because I only have 80 gigs now.

Well, first off, I wouldn't pay $199 for WINXP Home version when you can find WINXP Pro for less than that from a 100% reputable source. Look here:http://www.nextag.com/windows-xp-pro/search-html

To address the 40 Gb of hard drive space you already allocated on the failed WinXP install, Bootcamp will allow you to select or repartition that used 40Gb space when you install a good copy of Windows XP.

Remember to create yourself a WINXP drivers disk with Bootcamp. If you use the Bootcamp assistant in Utilities folder it will guide you.

You can find an OEM system builders full version of XP Home including SP2 for less than $90 at several legitimate web discounters. Look around. You do not need a MS boxed copy. And you certainly don't need a copy of XP Pro which does absolutely nothing for you.

And yes, you need to keep your Windows XP install disk in case you have to run a repair or reinstall Windows later on.

To reclaim your hard drive space do this: Run the Boot Camp assistant from OS X and select "create partition", then select "restore". All the space will be restored back to OS X. You can start over later on when you have the proper disk for XP. Next time - read the instructions first. ;D
