Sounds like someone played a cruel joke on you. Look for a folder called "user backup" or something similar.

If no one else had access to your iBook and it did this by itself then you might want to take it to someone at the Apple Store for a peek.

that sounds like a problem, is it happening again every time you start up? try zapping the pram and repairing permissions. also download preferential treatment to see if any of your system/oser preferences are corrupt, if so, tis may be the beginning of a corrupt os. what os exactly are you running, 10.x.x?

to zap the pram, shut down your mac, start it up holding down command+option+P+R until the mac 'chimes' twice, then release and itll start up as normal.
to repair permissions, open disk utility, its in the utilities folder inside applications. open it, after it says gathgering info, your drive will be listed in the colum on the left, select it, then click repair permissions, after its done, restart your mac. these wont bring back your old settings and such, but will fix any problems just starting and any already existent. o prevent it from happening again. zapping the pram may reset your clock.
