Hi all, is there an easy way to get the degree (as in temperature) symbol when typing on a Mac Book Pro?

I'm blowed if I can see one.

Alt+0 = º
Alt+K = ˚
Alt+Shift+8 = °

It's hard to see on the forums, but they're all slightly different...

My 2c worth - Country Keyboard Flag > Character Palette > View Roman > Punctuation. Included is the degrees symbol, two sizes too.
BTW - if you choose Miscellaneous, there are a heap of neat symbols there as well.

˚˚˚ Thanks guys˚˚˚

Point is, where did you find that? I had taken to avoiding all ˚ symbology and writing the word. Easy on a full size keyboard as I can use the ASCII on the numeric keypad, BUT on the MBP . . .

I am really grateful - I did a search before I posted but couldn't find anything. Where is this kind of info?

Thanks again.

Way... way too many specs to list.
As I recall all of it is available on the apple support site. I know a list of keyboard mappings is.

Got it guys - did another search as I didn't know what this 'flag' bit was.

It's in the Preferences>International>Input Menu, tick Character Palette and make sure Show Input Menu in Menu Bar is ticked too.

The 'flag' appears and in the submenu off that are lots of lovely symbols that I have been tearing my hair out trying to find.

That said, Option K is the most elegant solution for my immediate requirements.

Thank God for forums!!!

When you hold down the Alt key (or option key) and then press any letter or number on your keyboard you get some special symbols. Most of them are do to with maths AFAIK but you get some other useful ones such as;

- Alt + G = ©
- Alt + R = ®
- Alt + 3 = #
- Alt + 0 = º
