Hi folks,
I just ordered a new macbook pro online which just arrived today. I opened it out of the box and noticed a very big scratch on the mouse button and also saw that part of the plastic on the "?" button has been slight worn off. I custom configures this laptop to 72000 RPM hard disk and with all the goodies it came when I bought but now I want a replacement, I am unwilling to accept this product for which I paid $2K. Can anyone help me on what I should do to get a replacement? First of all, is it even possible? I haven't even turned on the laptop and I just packed it back after looking at the scratch. Sorry for complaining and thanks.

If a brand new computer is not 100% perfect out of the box, then you definitely deserve a replacement. Call up Apple and explain the situation.

Agreed with Kash - if it was damaged out of the box, there's no way I'd take that sitting down. I'd haul it off to an Apple Store or give Apple Care a call.

I'd be surprised if they didn't. To me, that's a major QA issue on their part. If it was anything short of perfect, it should have never shipped - and I would not expect to have my brand new $2K+ machine "repaired" rather than brand new.

Like I said, give Apple a call and they'll help you out. Most likely they'll send out a box for you to send the machine back. Make sure you demand, respectfully, for a replacement and don't settle on a repair.

i guess in my case the scratch can't be fixed, they have to send out a new one...but it really sucks that their quality is going down...

^^I'm not surprised, Apple is usually really good about stuff like that.
