Dock slow down??

Sup you all. Question if you have a lot of programs on dock would it slow down your mac??? Not open programs but i guess shortcuts?

Macbook(W) 2GHz, 80GB HD, 1G RAM, Windows XP
no, you can put as many app shortcuts in the dock as you can get to fit. as long as none of them are open (a little blue light below it [leopard], or triangle in tiger) it won't slow down anything.
