Your Mac's Specs

well that all depends on what you use your computer, how you use it, and maybe even, the type of computer you have.

some basic all around ones off the top of my head though would be:

onyx http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs/english.html
great maintenance tool, as well as lets you further customize your mac

adium http://www.adiumx.com/
good for IMing with MSN, AIM, Yahoo, Jabber, etc... (all at once too ;))

flip4mac http://www.flip4mac.com/
codecs for quicktime to play windows media

VLC http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
an amazing video player with will try (and most often succeed) playing ANY video file.

Xee http://wakaba.c3.cx/s/apps/xee.html
a good image browser

NeoOffice http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/en/index.php
free substitute for microsoft office.

and if you have a notebook, i would not be without
smcfancontrol http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/31029
which lets you monitor your fan speed and computer temp in your menu bar, and let's you limit your fans

and Insomnia X http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/30315
allows you to shut the macbook computer without it going into sleep. there are many forums which say this can wreck your screen or overheat your computer. but i have had it running closed for days at a time (using an external monitor) and have had NO problems so far.

and if you need any other apps.

both GREAT sites for both freeware and shareware for macs.

hope this helps
