Backup to new HD

iMac 21" 2.4G 320G HD OS Snow Leopard. Win7 on Dell PC Inspiron i5 8g Ram 1TB HD
I just installed a 500GIG external HD,I have it partitioned in two partitions, I want to be able to boot from one partition-how do I set it up? Thanks for any help. Van

firstly make sure it is formatted as HFS+

Then either install the default operating system on it or use SuperDuper to clone your boot drive to and, simply copying is not enough to create a bootable back-up, but SuperDuper will make a byte for byte clone of your internal drive
