I have a Powermac G4 With a 40gb Hard drive. the drive is now getting a bit noisy so my question is. How can i make an exact mirrored image of this drive onto a 120gb drive. With windows i used to boot from a norton ghost disc but if im right in saying so this may not work when trying to copy a mac OS hard drive using a non mac hardware system.

How can i do this im after an exact bootable copy

Check out SuperDuper! or Carbon Copy Cloner. Both of them should do exactly what you're looking for. Simply back the old drive up to the new one and then swap the drives around physically.

I don't believe Ghost has the ability to clone HFS+ partitions, nor can it set the boot block the way the EFI in a Mac needs it to be set.

But both of the programs I recommended above are free, give them a shot.
