I am hoping to get a mackbook in about 2 months. I have heard a few stories about thieves being caught on camera after trying to use a stolen mackbook.

What setup would I need to make sure that if mine was stolen that this could happen?

Thanks.

I seem to remember a product that you can install that costs nothing, you pay only when you want your stolen mac recovered, but I have lost the bookmark

My place of employment uses lojack. They have had 2 laptops stolen since I worked there and both were recovered.

I have iAlertU on my Macbook. It's free and won't get your book back, but it does sound an alarm and take a picture using your webcam, which is E-mailed to you. I suppose it's most useful if you leave your computer somewhere where there will be others.

The best stolen Mac recovery tool is the one mentioned by Zeels90 -
"Undercover".

This is specifically designed for Macs and is highly recommended. Note, however, for it to be effective you must set a "Firmware Password" on your Mac. You can read all about that and how the software works at their website.
