So i just plugged in my Creative Zen Vision M hoping it would charge as it's connection is by USB. It doesn't appear to be charging, so I'm guessing I wont be able to since it is a PC based MP3 player?

You'd think it would still charge though but maybe not. Are you using a MacBook?

Yeah I'm using a macbook. Nevermind haha, I plugged it into the closer port and it works. But it doesn't appear to be charging, just letting me use it since I ran out of battery...weird ha

Yeah, I don't seem to have enough power on my back port either.

Summer '06, 2.0 Core Duo, 2GB RAM, dead battery (but I doubt that makes any difference).

Yeah. Cracked top case that's ben repaired once by Apple, got cracked again when I was swapping out my Airport card for a new 'n' one. DVD packed in a few months ago.. dunno what went wrong though, and Apple won' touch it cos I did the Airport card myself.

In all other senses it's doing good - still pretty snappy.

Yeah, I don't seem to have enough power on my back port either.

In an earlier life I was a dual user - and I'm not talking about illegal substances. Being a Mac evangelist, one of the things that really watered me off, and messed up my plugs for Mac computers, was the ultra-precious USB power thing. I hate to say it, but PC's had it all over Macs in that respect.

For almost anything USB-peripheral for a Mac I say "get a powered hub". End of problem, end of story :)

I should probably also mention that I drop it quite a lot, which might have been what finished off the superdrive. I also spill things on it and eat when I'm typing, and sometimes small children fiddle with it. So overall I'm pretty darn pleased :).

Good one! Your locality isn't mentioned, but if you're in the US, may I suggest the Cyberpower brand. http://www.cyberpowersystems.com/products/accessories/usb_hubs/cph420mp.html I had an American friend bring one over to NZ with him and it accompanies me on my travels. 4xAAA NiMH batteries, which are chargeable via the USB connection. You can get them cheaper http://computers.pricegrabber.com/hubs/m/17307927/ut=3cea65fb2b303a80
My only criticism is that the USB ports are just a fraction too close together.
