What's the best DVD brand for iMac burning?

...Specifically in terms of reliability to playing back on regular DVD players after burning with an iMac. Verbatim? TDK? Thanks

As far as I can tell, there is absolutely no difference between optical media brands aside from price variation and what speeds you can burn at.

Absolutely wrong. The brands themselves mean nothing, it is the manufacturer that means everything. Taiyo Yuden makes the best disks hands down, but you have to order them through somewhere like supermediastore.com

You can actually read the manufacturer code from within the system profiler which can give you an idea to work with from that site. For instance you will see Sony on there a few times, meaning some of the discs are really good, and some are absolute crap. Like I said, brand is nothing, manufacturer is everything.

Bad media can actually start to wear on lasers. Not such a big deal on computers because the lasers are ment to handle a variety of discs. Bigger deal on set top DVD players and definitely a big deal on game consoles.

Use Verbatim and yet to burn a coaster touch wood. And yes quality does make a huge difference.
