Travels w/ the notebook.

I'll be headed out of town for the first time w/ my iBook and was wondering if it would be okay to have the notebook in sleep during takeoff/landing. I know they have the announcements that all electronics should be shut off during such procedures, however I'm wondering whilst in sleep will it really make a difference? Granted no, it's no big deal for me to turn her off, just an honest inquiry; so save the flames for another thread.

Thanks.

I don't think it is any problem at all...Just make sure to have airport turned off.

I took off the day before thanksgiving with my powerbook on (lid closed almost all the way) because I was compiling something that would take another 10 minutes and didn't want to stop it. I really don't think there is any bad effects by having a laptop on especially if you have wireless disabled...There is nothing being transmitted from the computers so I don't see what the big deal is.

I'd absolutely turn the Airport off! I've read something regarding travels w/ a notbook before and I know not to have it on anytime during the flight.

It may be ok to leave it in sleep but I personally would turn it off. Would hate to take a chance like that.

I'm a frequent flyer and I always leave it on sleep mode. My Bluetooth and Airport is always off though.
