Hey guys, I just got my first mac ever and have a few questions.

Is there a way to have links i click open in the same tab in the same window?

Is there a way to not have my mac keep downloaded files off the internet? I don't want anyone to see my mad amount of porn files or links/cookies.

Im still getting used to the keyboard, seems not to sensitive is this normal?

And about quicktime, is thre any magical codec for quicktime that can play all move codecs??? Like WMV AVI mainly thats all i want.

thanks for your help guys

You can also down load Perian:

http://perian.org/

And VLC player:

VLC is fantastic.
If you are worried about leaving a porn trail, there are a few things you can do. You can turn private browsing on in safari. In the tool bar click safari>private browsing. That will prevent history and cookies.

Under safari>preferences, you can turn off auto fill. That will make it so that if some one types the word "big" into the address bar, something foul wont try to fill itself in after it.

You can also head to system preferences>appearance> and set the number of recent items to none. That will make it so that if you click the apple on the tool bar, no one can see what files you just opened.

Also you can head into finder>preferences and remove the search for items from the side bar.

Then, your absolute best move is to keep your "stuff" in a folder, then hide it somewhere on your mac, let's say under Library, pdf services, then go back into system preferences>spotlight>privacy>then in the lower left hand corner click the + button and tell spotlight not to include that folder in it's search.

So then, nobody will find your porn unless they search every file manually for it. And you can get all sweaty and secure with yourself.

And I don't hide my porn, I'm just a smarty pants!

Excellent response my man, thanks for the help. My friend described the mac as "godly porn machine"

Them people in Apple added a real cool feature there regarding the private browsing must have been porn lords themselves.

Right click on the icon: ctrl>click

then change it from stack to folder.

to change the icon, right-click (assuming your mouse is set up for it) or ctrl-click on the relevant folder. Select "Get Info". The icon is visible in the top left of the pane that appears. click on the icon so that it is selected, then paste your new icon straight in. It helps to have the icon you want to use already copied then you can just hit apple-v once you've selected the icon you want to change.
If you do a search online for free Mac icons there are millions and some of them are really cool.
