I currently experiencing the 'joy' of installing a new OS on the older (2006) headless powerpc G5 xserves, which my company has a few.

As many of you are aware, the servers do not have a video card and I had to do the target-disk-mode to install the leopard OS. I am also able to boot off the
server's HD on my laptop by holding the option/alt key.

However, after installing I was hoping with setting a static IP or assigning DHCP will make the server visible to ARD. Unfortunately this didnt work.
I am not even sure if I start the server with new OS where it is failing since there is no video.

I am at my wits end in trying to get this server on network. I can always hunt for a compatible video card and add it to the xserve.

Any other ideas?
I have seen same problem with others online. All this because apple thought
a server will never have the need to be hooked up to a monitor or make the server 'extra cool'? :)

TIA,
Raj

I would just pop a video card in it and therefore, pulling out all the other stops... Been there and done that, no fun...
