I am getting my new MacBook and was wondering how I can take things from my family iMac (running Tiger) and Put them onto the MacBook (running Leopard). I would be taking things like Word documents, and Songs from iTunes. I think you can have like a network or something, I saw it on one of the Guided Tours, Just would like a help getting it set up.

Thanks,

T

You have several options including networking, a simple USB drive or burning the files to a disk. I transfer files between my wife's iMac and my MacBook almost daily via our wireless network. IMHO, it is the most convenient.

A wireless network is what I use, and it's probably the easiest, especially on the Mac. Just a few clicks in Preferences and...voila!:D

Telters, do you have a network already?

Basically, you have to buy a wireless router (ie, Apple's Airport Extreme, Time Capsule, or a Linksys) and adapters for the client computers. Almost all newer Macs have WiFi capability built-in, so the adapter part shouldn't be a problem.
I noticed your other thread about WiFi routers, so look there for suggestions on that end.
Setting up the router is easy: just plug in your internet modem.

Would getting a Linksys router work for connecting: Mac's, PC's, Wii, ETC??

Thanks
