Is there a way I would be able to connect my Macbook with a friend's iMac in order to transfer a large number of files to my MB? About 70GB worth? Ordinarily I would just dump his files onto an external HDD then transfer to my Macbook, but alas do not have access to an external HDD present.

Any ideas? :)

Use target mode. Connect both system using a firewire cable, Then reboot the system with the data to be copied holding down the t key. You should see the firewire logo in that system. On the other system you should see a new disk icon on the disk top. Now all you need to do is locate the data you want to copy and start the copy process.
