Possible bad AirPort Extreme card

I have a G4 dual 1.25 MDD. 768mb of ram, and 300mb of free hard disk space. I'm running Leopard 10.5.3 OS.

I've just upgraded to leopard and have installed an Airport extreme card.

It has been peachy up until a few weeks ago.

Now I'm experiencing freeze ups when my computer goes to sleep. Once it sleeps then I have to restart the computer.

A new problems has just started today. After a few minutes on the internet I lose my connection. It appears to still be connected but I can't load new pages. I've found if I turn off the card and turn it back on- I'm back no problem.

Could it be that I have a bad Airport Extreme card or is it an issue with Leopard?

Keith I am installing an Extreme Wireless PCI card and the information I have ferreted out is minimum machine is a FW800. 1.25DP were made in both MDD and FW800 but for some reason only the FW800 is compatible.

I have the FW 800 and it is working. But I have figured out my machine won't freeze if I turn the card off. But I am loosing connection after five minutes.

Any ideas?

Have you downloaded the manufacturer or ISP's instructions for setting up the wireless router? If it is any help my ISP here in Australia, Internode, are Mac specialists and you can download instructions there for an Open Networks 624W625W, Billion and Linsky routers, but I do not think the set up methods would vary that much between brands. It just might be my provider. Although, there is another computer in the house that has no problem staying on. When I do a check of my connection everything is green except the provider and server. I'm thinking it's issues with leopard.

But that doesn't solve my problems when the system goes to sleep - it still freezes unless I shut off the airport card.

Keith both computers are set up to WPA-PSK? My ISP is quite emphatic about the pre-shared key setup.
