where's my # key!?!?

Ok,

I bought my mac for a number of different reasons, one of them is web development. So I started coding my new site and the first thing I noticed...NO # KEY!

After a quick google I found out you can get it by pressing alt+3. Great but one problem. This does not work in a virtual environment and since I develop on windows platforms and because I need that key so much it makes me not want to bother.

Does anyone have any advice?

Change the international input settings to US English? Shift+3 is #. Alt+3 is £.

I don't understand what your question means. Isn't there a '#' above the number three on your keyboard?

Not on a British keyboard there isn't. Our 3 key has the £ sign on it.

I understand You should have seen me looking for / (I work in a unix environment) on a German keyboard
