Hi,

I'm a graduate student and is seriously thinking of buying iMac. But I want to make sure if it would suite my needs. My main usage is scientific computations using MATLAB and C++. Some time, my programs would run days together. I favor speed and performance over anyother features. If anyone could confirm me if I'm making a good choice?

Thanks in advance.

I prefer reliability over speed and performance. ;)

It looks like Matlab is supported on the latest OS X 10.5.x and so is the compiler. Do your own check on those two points if you haven't already.

The Mac is used in science with success and Apple has a science page for that.

If you enter the following into Google you might find something relevant to you; site:apple.com science matlab
