I recently inheirited a Mac Book Pro. Is there a way to change the user/owner name that pops up everywhere?

I was told that I could reinstall the OS and it would let me enter a new name, but that didn't happen. After the reinstall it just rebooted and started like it always does.

It has Boot Camp with Vista installed also and I would like to the the registered name there also if anyone knows what I need to do.

Thanks in advance.

Did you erase the HDD and reinstall? Or archive and install?

It's always better to start with a fresh OS install (especially with Windows).

Reinstall OS X and erase the HD first (using Disk Utility when the OS X installer first starts up).

Then use the Boot Camp Assistant to reinstall Windows.

I don't think you can change the name that shows up under registered software screens, but changing the owner's card in Address Book should take care of some of the default fields that get populated by user info.
