Setting up a network for file sharing

I just got a mac today and im trying to share files between it and my pc but i dont know how to do it, do i need to set it up from my pc or my mac?

The easiest way is to download Microsoft's folder share program and install it on both PC and Mac.

The prog is free just do a Google search for it.
