Can somebody PM me that knows about internet related issues because I am not sure what is going on and where I should be starting.

I made another thread about this but it didn't get any replies.

I am trying to access a certain site and I cannot get to it. Every time I type in the address, it takes me to a different site that has what appears to be an IP address in the address bar.

Anyone know what I am talking about?

well, for whatever reason, the site is redirecting you.

have you been able to get to this site before?

is it someone's personal site?

is it "vice" related (gambling, porn, alcohol, etc - these have a huge possibility of trying to throw something nasty on to your computer)?

i've been there before and would frequent it regularly. Yes, it is a "vice" site. It worked fine before but now it just stopped letting me get on it.

someone may have purchased the url and set it to redirect you somewhere you don't want to be.

you could try googling the site by name and see if you find anyone discussing it, or a possible renaming of the site by it's owners (or former owners).

I tried to to Google it and it took me there, then redirected me to the other site. I talked to other people and they said that they can access the site and don't have any problems with it.

You haven't recently downloaded any "codecs" at the request of a website recently by any chance

If that was the case you will be getting frequent re-directs

Alternate browsers: Firefox or Opera.

If this is a problem with your DNS settings you will still have the same problem regardless of the browser you use.

Your trojan is likely "OSX.RSPlug.A"
You can find more information at intego.com
and in macworld (where just search on that trojan name and you'll find some information about resolving it).
The trojan keeps changing the DSN.
A link a link a link and I find I'm in PC World's description of the problem, and their link to Securemac's DSNchanger Remover tool (which apparently is free).
btw, I downloaded "avast!" protection from the apple website; it didn't find the trojan.

update:
I followed the instructions at the macworld site for manual removal. It works. I also confirmed I didn't have the trojan with the securemac's tool, and its report: no trojan found.
If you have 10.4, I'd suggest just using the tool.
good luck.
