Hello,

New to Imac, you got it 2 days ago and the "right click" twitch is already setting in. I want my right click back! :Shouting: :D

I have a question about security..I'm a man and we all know what we men do alot on pcs..look at naked chicks! I was wondering since mac OS is supposed to be safe and secure, is there a risk of virus or something messing up my os?

I got this to record my music and use Logic, Protools (guitar player) but my second favorite thing to do besides checking out guitars and amps is looking at
naked women and since I'm new to this, I have no idea if it's safe or not. I don't sign up to any porn sites or garbague like that. I just like to save some pics here and there when the gf is not looking.

I know there's PLENTY of you here that do the same so if you're embarrassed go ahead and play possum but have you encountered any issues/problems with Imac or mac os when you "accidentally" click on a naked pic or site?

It's been 2 days and I'm getting more and more used to this thing..but where in the DANCING PONIES is the power supply and fans on the Imacs? ?? How do they stay cool? Are they just big laptops? I ended up with the 24", 3.0ghz and 8800gs video card.

Thanks in advance!

You have got a right click, it's just that this is disabled by default.

Go to system preferences/Keyboard and mouse - then change the right side of mouse to secondary click. Voila!! right click is now available.

As for your other concern you shouldn't have any problems, although it was probably a good idea to get the 24" screen, as I've heard it'll make you go blind eventually;D

There is one Trojan Horse on the mac that can take advantage of horny males

If you come across any site with a saucy movie that asks you to download a codec to view the file.

Simply never download anything from an untrusted site and never give permission to any installer unless you know and trust its source

On OS X nothing can install without your admin password, so unless you do something truly stupid, you will have no worries from trojans and viruses

control + click or a mouse with a right button (I recommend the Logitech V470) will satisfy this twitch.

Hehehhh ;D I wear contacts now.

Thanks for all the replies and helpful info guys.

I actually found out about the right click option yesterday and the only thing that was giving me a hard time was COPY and PASTE but I did figure out yesterday. It's just that on some things and sites it was strange at first. I also discovered how to go straight to the desktop when I'm on a web site. I just set the side button to do this and one click desktop.

Glad you guys also told me about the mouse..it was my next question. I know it's all USB and nothing can get fried but just curious if I could use any mouse on mac.

I never open any strange files or any files for that matter unless they're updates. I also found how to set some security options the first day I got it and set it to ask me about opening anything..or something like that.

One other tip: go to Safari menu item and click on "Private Browsing". This will stop cookies and history from being kept on your Mac. Also, it is a nice CYA if anyone ask what you were doing those late nights. ;)

 Thanks man. I was wondering what "Private Browsing" was.

I have a good excuse, it works 90% of the time."hey, that was my brother..not me, he came in to check his email and looked at that nasty crap".

I would try your mouse, I'm sure you'll be able to. If you can't, It wouldn't do any harm.

And...........wow.
Has this amount of bluntness ever been encountered before? ;P

Thank you sir!

Well, I'm the most honest person alive I believe..most people throw this out alot but I do "tell it like it is". Get's me into trouble alot and mostly with women. :Angry-Tongue:

I hope I get to the point where I want to change my name to, "I'mGladISwitched" so far I can't believe I don't have to deal with fans (even though I was on water cooling and super overclocks) radiators, water hoses, anti-virus (so far) and unistalling things are incredibly efficient. Those "sticky" things are the best man and the dashboard also very useful.

Keep in mind that the reason you switched is because you wanted something *different* from your experience with Windows. So, don't be surprised when you find that it is, indeed different! It takes some time to acclimate to a new OS, particularly when you have a tremendous amount of experience with the old.

To help with your, erm, viewing pleasure you may want to download the following free quicktime components (if you haven't already done so).

Flip4Mac

Perian

HAAAAAA! :Angry-Tongue: What a guy! You read my mind..I have some movies of a couple of lovely ladies that were doing "artistic" posing and I wanted to review them again to see if the aesthetic lines were still appealing to my ever growing taste! :D :Angry-Tongue: ;D

I'm using something called "MPLAYER" the mac version and it works but I'd like something easier of faster. I'll check Flip4Mac..thanks man! Heheheh
