I have my new iMac about a week and a half now and am still finding my way round.

I always use Firefox however I am curious about Safari. Is it any bettter and can it do anything that Firefox can't? Is there any reason why I should switch?

On a side note does anyone have any advice on how to best use Spaces and Workflow?

I'm planning to use Firefox. From what I've been reading, the download managers available for Firefox integration into iGetter and whatnot are a lot better.

That's just one of the reasons that I'll be using Firefox.

I've always used it on PC.

It's your basic download manager. Batch downloads is what I mainly use it for.

I use both safari and firefox. Each has its own pros and cons. Some web pages look better and work better on different browsers.

Firefox has a batch download manager built in though. I like the Mac OS because it's streamlined. I don't really want to be using two different browsers though.

Try it. See which one you prefer.

i used firefox pretty much exclusively on my home pc (after switching from opera), when i got my macbook, i tried firefox for a day and then never reopened it. never needed to, safari has been just fine on it's own.

when i installed a new HD and reloaded OS X, i never even felt the need to reload firefox.

Try them both. I'm using Firefox 3 RC1. I like it much better than Firefox 2 or Safari. I highly recommend getting the Adblock Plus add-on for Firefox. I rarely see ads any more!

If all our applications at work worked in Safari, then I would happily just use that. Alas, due to some poor writing, one of our Ruby apps does not work in Safari, so I am left with Firefox for testing purposes. And once Firefox is open, well, I just keep using it for everything. I have to admit though, it does have some cool extensions and themes

I switched about 2 months ago and now use BOTH applications as I feel they both have strengths and weaknesses. Together it is a 'no lose' situation and in reality it's only adding an extra icon to the dock.

I'm going to really confuse the author of this thread....

Although Safari is my default browser, I prefer Camino over Firefox.

Some websites I frequent don't work as well with Safari as they do with FireFox, so I use FF.

I use FF exclusively on my PC, however when I bought my MacBook I didn't see the need to install FF as Safari did everything I wanted.

I'm not a big user of FF ad ons etc, so Safari suits my needs. If you are going to be doing alot of 'tweaking' and 'adding on' then go for FF. If you're just browsing and downloading a few things here and there, i'd stick with Safari.

I find Firefox sluggish compared with Safari.

Safari feels more like an OS X program too. Firefox feels like you're running a PC program on OS X.
