What to get with my MBP

I'm going to get my Macbook Pro for use in college. I'll be majoring in Computer Programming, and I'll need it to hold all of my media, college documents, occasional gaming, and web design. What are the necessities to accompany my new MBP when I buy it from Apple? (iWork, Final Cut, Aperture, Logic Express, .Mac) Also, what programs do you recommend I buy or download to assist me in what I'll need to do?

external hard drive to back everything up. thats what im getting

I'd recommend a spec case, cause the mbp's scratch very easily. An yes an external hard drive is a must for time machine!
