i am confused with Iwork. Can i save iwork files and then open them on a PC. Or Do i need to use microsoft office for that?

iWork's default file type is a proprietary file type that can only be opened by iWork applications. If you want to open an iWork file on a PC you have to export it to a file type that can be read by PCs (eg. .doc, PDF, .ppt)

Yep, exporting to .doc works great. So does .pdf.
