Key Event Photo Wont change using space bar

I have watched all of the tutorials and it looks easy. Select the photo that you like and then hit the Space Bar. The photo you selected should be the Key Event Photo right.

Not on my brand new macbook.

Any Ideas/Help?

New to Mac but this looks simple.
